Romance/Romance

Two One-Act Musicals
Book and Lyrics by Barry Harman
Music by Keith Herrmann
April 15 – May 9

Double your pleasure with Romance/Romance. This Tony- nominated musical pairs two distinctive one-acts to create an entertaining musical that explores the highs and lows of love. The first act, The Little Comedy, is set in turn- of- the-century Vienna and presents a rakish aristocrat and a saucy, world-weary woman who disguise themselves as paupers to find love. The second act, Summer Share, is an updated take on the play Pain de Menage. Summering in the Hamptons, two best friends contemplate marriage and monogamy, promising fidelity to their spouses even as they play with the idea of an affair.

A Spectacular Masterpiece
Music by Richard Rodgers
Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Based on “Anna and the King of Siam” by Margaret Landon
Original choreography by Jerome Robbins

Set in Bangkok in the early 1860s, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic is a stunning tale of learning to love and learning to change. West and East collide when Anna, an English school teacher, is commissioned to govern the King of Siam’s many children. Although Anna has many quarrels with the dictator, she falls in love with the King’s children and endures her stay. The two eventually grow to understand and respect one another in this truly unique love story. With remarkable musical numbers like “Getting to Know You,” “Something Wonderful,” and “Shall We Dance?,” The King and I is one of the most exquisite stories ever told and is perfect for the entire family.

Music by Marvin Hamlisch
Lyrics by Edward Kleban

Honky-Tonk Angels

A New Musical Comedy
Created by Ted Swindley
September 23 – October 17

This new musical comedy follows the journey of three women who, fed up with their lives, set out to chase their dreams of becoming country music stars. They meet on a bus on their way to Nashville where they strike up a friendship and decide to pursue their dream together as a trio. Celebrating the voices of female country legends like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Pam Tillis, you’ll recognize classics such as “Stand By Your Man,” “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “9 to 5,” and “Harper Valley PTA.” Romance, husband problems, independence, and a little gospel thrown in for good measure result in a theatrical mixture of laughter, friendship, and maybe a tear or two.
